For the third consecutive year Barclays Bank Botswana has announced (amount) sponsorship for the annual Raft Race hosted by Gaborone Yatch Club. The raft race is a fun day charity event that doubles as a team building exercise and family event. The event provides a fantastic platform to spend time with friends and family.

This year, the event will be held on the 15th of February at the Gaborone Yacht Club under the theme ‘Crocodile Dundee’. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the event will be donated to charitable organizations

Commenting on the sponsorship, The Head of Marketing and Communications at Barclays, Racheal Mushaike said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Gaborone Yatch Club and providing the public with an opportunity to exercise and enjoy the outdoors whilst raising funds for the underprivileged.  The raft race has been an exciting day in our corporate calendar and enjoyed by our colleagues and customers.

The excitement of the race starts right from the beginning when teams build their rafts before commencing the actual race. (I think more info is needed on building of rafts.)

Some of the organisations that have in the past benefited from this benevolence are BSPCA, Adopt A Child and Sefhare Stimulation Centre. These organisations have once again been selected as beneficiaries for the 2014 edition.   The raft race has been in existence since 1986.

Barclays takes pride in the relationships it has formed with various partners over the years in an effort to raise funds for the needy in creative ways.
